For Students
Tutoring
Free tutoring in most freshman and some upper-division courses, including math, chemistry, biology, foreign languages, philosophy, history and English.
College Life Coaching
Through the State of Michigan grant-funded program King-Chavez-Parks Initiative (KCP), highlights include college life coaching with various programs and events.
FirstGen Network
If your parents did not graduate with a bachelor’s degree, you are a first-generation college student – and we want you to join the FirstGen Network! We offer a space to meet for food, conversation and community.
Finding your major
You can explore UDM's majors, and careers in health professions through our in our Academic Interests & Major Exploration Program and Health Exploration Program.
Testing
Placement testing
Testing in English, Math, Chemistry, and foreign languages offered at Detroit Mercy is available online on Blackboard under the "Placement Testing" course for all new and applicable transfer students. The results of the placement tests are given to the student's advisor to assist in proper course selection.

Testing Center
All students are welcome to use the SSC testing center to take their exams or quizzes, including students in need of testing accommodations. Students must make arrangements with their professors in order to use the testing center. During the fall/winter semesters, student may come and take a test during regular hours of operation Monday-Friday.
During the summer term and final exam week (for full semester courses) the testing center is available by appointment only by calling the SSC.
Students using the testing center will be asked to sign a testing center agreement form and surrender their cell phone, smart watches, or any other items prohibited in the testing center. Students will be asked to present their student ID upon arrival (or any other state or federally issued photo ID) to verify their identity.

Student accessibility services are available to all currently enrolled students who have documented disabilities that substantially limit them in one or more major life activities.
